| Q: | Why should I be concerned about copyright issues? |
| A: | Federal Copyright Law prohibits the unauthorized copying of “original works of authorship” (including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and certain other intellectual works), and penalties for copyright violations can be up to $150,000 per infringement. Ethically, owners of copyrighted material are entitled to the fruits of their labors, hence copyright protection for original works is fair and right. |

| Q: | Why does my church need a license? |
| A: | Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two vital areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing videos/movies without authorization. CCLI provides practical licensing solutions in both areas. |

| Q: | We only project songs. Do we need a license? |
| A: | In most cases, yes. Entering and storing copyrighted song lyrics on a computer without permission of the copyright owner is a reproduction copying activity and is a violation of the Federal Copyright Law. |

| Q: | How do I find out if a particular song is covered by CCLI? |
| A: | First, locate the copyright information for the song, usually listed at the bottom of the sheet music or in the liner notes of the recording. After you have determined the copyright owner, then refer to CCLI’s
Authorized Catalog list. If the copyright owner (Catalog) is listed, then the song is covered. If the copyright owner (Catalog) is not listed, please contact Customer Service for more information. SongSelect subscribers can also use the SongSelect search engine to easily verify covered songs. |

| Q: | What's The Difference Between The Authorized Catalog List and the Publisher List? |
| A: | Some publishers and song owners (for example, Hillsong and Lillenas) are covered by CCLI as a "Catalog" of another "Administrator." The
Publisher List covers Administrators. The Authorized Catalog List covers catalogs represented by the Administrators. |
