CCLI's Church Copyright Licence
Provides helpful compliance with the copyright law in copying music for congregational use (for an annual fee).
Covers more than 150,000 songs from more than 2,500 publishers and songwriters.
Grants permission for the following copying activities:
- To print songs in bulletins, programme's and songsheets.
- To print songs in bound or unbound songbooks.
- To make overhead transparencies or slides.
- To utilise electronic storage and retrieval methods for the visual projections of songs.
- To print customised vocal and/or instrumental arrangements of the songs, where no published version is available.
- To record songs in church worship services by either audio or audio-visual means, provided only "live" music (instrumental and vocal) is recorded. Accompaniment tracks cannot be reproduced.
This Licence is intended for congregationally sung music only.
What the Licence does not provide permission to do:
- To photocopy or duplicate any choral sheet music (octavos), cantatas, musicals, handbell music, keyboard arrangements, vocal solos or instrumental works.
- To translate songs from English into another language. This can only be done with the approval of the respective publisher.
- To rent, sell or lend copies made under the Licence to groups outside the church or to other churches. (It is OK to distribute tapes to shut-ins, missionaries or others outside the church.)
- To assign or transfer the Licence to another church or group without CCLI's approval.
This is an annual Licence.
All terms are in effect only when the Licence is active. If the Licence is not renewed all rights are terminated effective on the expiration date.
